Diamond Valley Basketball Association is excited to announce the signing of Ashleigh McBean to the Eagles NBL1 Women’s team!
Ashleigh played junior basketball at Eltham, and was selected to play three times in national championships, winning gold at all three. She won a scholarship to attend Murray State University in Kentucky and attended there in 2011-2013. Coming back to Australia, she played Big V at Eltham and NBL1 at Dandenong.
Ashleigh is looking forward to playing with Diamond Valley this season. “I love the family environment that Diamond Valley has created over the years which was demonstrated at the Singlet presentation night last week. Basketball has always been more than win or lose, it’s the friendships and life long bonds you create through the love of the game. Although I’m an Eltham Junior there was always a part of my heart that belonged to Diamond Valley as my mother started her basketball career here. The gym is also extremely close to where my grandmother lives who is my loudest and proudest supporter!”
Eagles NBL1 Women’s coach Robbie Baldwin is very happy to have Ash on board. “Ash has provided us with the big presence we need inside. She has been a good leader and a great support to the younger girls and fitted in really well with the group. I’m really looking forward to seeing Ash in action this year”.
You can see Ash play in the first NBL1 game of the season tonight, at Community Bank Stadium, Diamond Creek. The Women’s team tip off at 6pm, followed by the Men’s team at 8pm.
