Child Safety
Diamond Valley Basketball Association have a commitment to each and every child to have the right to feel safe and be safe in every aspect of club associated engagement.
We value and withhold a zero tolerance policy to any form of child abuse. The wellbeing and safety of every child of the Diamond Valley Basketball Association is our utmost priority.
Our Club and Community are committed to create an all-inclusive, child safe environment continually maintaining an up to date standards, inhouse auditing and support systems. All members of the Diamond Valley Basketball Association, employed and volunteers are all required told hold a current working with children check.
It is Victorian Government legislation that requires all sporting organisations that provide sporting services to children to implement Child Safe Standards. All organisations working with children are required to engage a Child Safe Officer/s responsible for identifying and managing risk relating to child safety.
Our Child Safety Officer Mel Paino is familiar with aspects, responsibilities associated with mandated reporting and who these apply to. They also understand the requirements that our Association needs to meet in order to comply with government regulations surrounding child safe environments.
The identification of a Child Safe Officer/s provides children, young people, families and volunteers with a clearly identifiable support network in the event of a suspected child safety issue. However, this does not remove the statutory obligation of all adults to report child abuse as per the Crimes Act 1958 (Vic) and Mandatory Reporting regulations.
