Inclusive Basketball Programs

At Diamond Valley Basketball Association, we believe that basketball has the remarkable ability to unite all people. We are proud to offer a range of inclusive basketball programs that create opportunities for individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities to come together, connect, and excel on and off the court.

Ausome Hoops

We have continued our partnership with Ausome Hoops who will be delivering sessions in Term 1, their program specifically structured for young people with Autism. Ausome Hoops is a basketball program that provides a safe and inclusive space where young people aged 5 – 16 years old on the spectrum can learn new basketball skills, get active and make new friends in a judgement free environment that may be present in other mainstream programs.

Walking Basketball

Walking Basketball is a fun, low impact, social way for all to participate in the slower paced, traditional version of the game. Fun, free and social.

Time: 10.30am-11.15am

Cost: FREE – with coffee, tea and biscuits provided at the conclusion of the session upstairs.

Hoops for Wheelies! (Wheelchair Basketball)
Hoops for Wheelies! (wheelchair basketball) is now at Diamond Valley Basketball Association!
We’re excited to offer an inclusive program that brings the thrill of basketball to players of all abilities. Join us for a fun and competitive environment!
Opportunities are available for all ages and people to engage with this part of our sport.
Particuly those with:
childhood-onset physical disabilities
spinal cord injury (SCI)
secondary physical disabilities
physical impairment that is not traditionally seen as ‘disabled’
(e.g. chronic conditions that prevent people from participating in their chosen sport).
Basketballs & wheelchairs will be provided. Bring your own if preferred!
Program dates for Term 2 2025  announced. 
The session will begin with 10-15 minutes of drills, followed by a game for the rest of the time.
Age: Open Age and all abilities
Venue: Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre, 44 Civic Dr, Greensborough VIC 30

Dates: May 9th – June 20th 
Time: 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Cost: $120 excluding GST
Other Information:
We’ll have basketballs and wheelchairs available for everyone to use during the session. But feel free to bring your own equipment if you prefer, like your personal basketball or sports wheelchair. Additionally, bring anything that helps you feel comfortable while participating.
We can only accommodate up to 10 participants per session due to the availability of wheelchairs.

Rainbow Ready – Proud 2 Play

Proud to Play Rainbow Ready have completed the assessment on our facilities and competition. The next phase is Education and Consultation to best ensure DV have an open an inclusive space for the LGBTIQ+ community. Rainbow Ready Proud 2 Play focuses on increasing LGBTIQ+ engagement in sport, exercise and active recreation.
