Major Signing Diamond Valley NBL1

In our official groundbreaking announcement, the Diamond Valley Eagles proudly welcome Gemma Potter, a powerhouse forward from the UC Capitals WNBL team to our roster for the upcoming NBL1 2024 season. Gemma’s journey from a junior player at Warrandyte Venom to Bullen Boomers, to her current status as a key player in the WNBL has been nothing short of remarkable.

Gemma began in the junior ranks with Warrandyte, and then Bulleen where she honed her skills under the guidance of esteemed coaches such as Sam Thorton, and Kristen Vear. Gemma has expressed deep gratitude for these and other coaching staff that played a pivotal role in her development.

Her trajectory saw her earn a coveted spot at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) where her Gemma went on to proudly represent Australia at the national level, later signing with the NBL1 Dandenong Rangers, showcasing her exceptional talent and commitment to the sport.

However, Gemma’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. Overcoming two ACL injuries stands as a testament to her unwavering mental and physical strength.

In 2024 she will embark on a new chapter with the Diamond Valley Eagles in NBL1 South. As a talented forward with an extensive career at such a young age, her ability to foster strong connections within the basketball community is recognised as one of her greatest assets. Quoted as saying “her biggest asset off-court has been the ability to cement strong supportive relationships within the basketball community”.

The NBL1 Women’s Team Season 2024 promises to be an exciting journey with Gemma Potter on board.

We can’t wait to see Gemma Potter spread her wings as a Diamond Valley Eagle, bringing a wealth of experience and strength of spirit to the NBL1 court. Let’s Soar in 2024.
