Cohen is a level A grade referee and has been reffing at DVBA for 2.5 years, Cohen as quoted became a referee because he loves basketball and “it’s great way to earn money doing something I enjoy”. Having played Junior Domestic basketball since the age of 6, Cohens playing journey continues including 9 years as a Diamond Valley VJBL Junior, currently in the U20.1 VC team.
A career highlight for Cohen was being the recipient the inaugural recipient of Male Domestic Referee of the Year at the 2023 awards evening. The thing Cohen finds most challenging is “argumentative parents and coaches” when reffing. He does prefer to referee the U16 and U18 age groups. Fun facts – Cohen enjoys playing basketball or footy and “hanging out with my friends”. Traveling around the USA and attending lots of NBA games would be Cohen’s ideal holiday. His favourite player is “Sharee Melli G.O.A.T.”.
