Mandy Kelly started refereeing some 30 years ago, starting at the age of14 with the Eltham Wildcats, reffing was her very first job driven by increasing her fitness and the need for spending money. Mandy also started playing basketball in grade 2 and only stopped playing a couple of seasons ago. After her break from reffing, she has returned through her niece and nephew’s basketball involvement, and reconnecting with old friends within the community. Holding an A-grade qualification, Mandy enjoys officiating all age groups. A highlight of her return has been meeting new people in our basketball community having only been reffing at DVBA for 6 months. The biggest challenge she faces is adjusting to the new rules and remembering everyone’s’ names after her long break.

Fun facts: Mandy loves relaxing at her caravan by the beach. Her ideal holiday would be to eventually the South of France and the coast of Italy, which she had previously planned in 2020. Her favourite basketball players are her niece Mia and nephew Riley.

Congratulations to Mandy of the Month of January 2025, and we look forward to seeing all that she accomplishes in the future!
