Luca is currently qualified as B Grade referee and has been a DVBA referee for 2 years. “Influenced by a friend, and wanting a job where I could stay active” were driving forces in Luca’s decision to become a referee. Luca still shares his love of basketball and has played at Junior Domestic since under 8’s and currently continues to play under 20’s for St Mary’s Sharks.
Luca enjoys reffing because he likes to help people gain a better understanding of the game, enjoying reffing the under 16’s and 18’s age groups the most. The only challenge he faces as part of being a referee is “finding the energy at 8.10am every Saturday”. Congratulations to Luca, our referee of the Month June 2024!
Fun facts – Luca enjoys hanging out with his friends and would like a trip to Europe with his mates. His favourite player is Sam Walsh.
